EMBO YIP activities and modus operandi:
YIP lectures:
This activity is restricted to current EMBO Young Investigators only.
YIP PhD course:
Course is open to all PhD students of present and former programme members. Priority will be given to students from course teachers and current programme members. EMBO YIP covers all local costs; travel costs have to be covered by the home lab. See web page for further details.
YIP institute visits, seminar talks etc:
Travel and accommodation costs for programme members invited to give a seminar/plan a collaboration with another programme member is covered to an amount up to 500 euros.

Student exchanges:
Travel and accommodation costs for students who are going to other programme members to carry out experiments can be covered up to a maximum of 1500 euros.
Travel and accommodation costs should be kept to a minimum. Students staying longer than a few days are expected to find cheap accommodation; hotel rates will not be covered.
For all exchanges it is expected that the best travel and accommodation fares be sought. EMBO YIP will not contribute to bench fees.

Support for local PhD courses:
Programme members who are organizing a PhD course in their local institutes can receive support for travel and accommodation for lectures/teaching support of up to two programme members per year, EMBO will cover up to 500 euros per person.

Joint group meetings:
Joint group meetings between programme members’ groups are supported with a maximum of 800 euros per group.

YIP sectoral meetings:
Sectoral meetings will be supported with 600 euros per participating programme member, both former and present. An additional 200 euros is available for participating lab members, i.e. the maximum available sum per programme member is 800 euros. The support per meeting is available as a total amount going towards the meeting. An advance can be given in order to secure hotel reservations. Travel claims and accommodation are to be handled by the organizer in order to be reclaimed from EMBO. Local/organizing members can contribute their allowance to the overall costs.
